Trumpet Lessons

Playing the trumpet is such a unique musical experience and journey for any student!

For beginners, we first learn how to hold the instrument properly, buzz through our mouthpiece, and talk about proper breathing techniques before diving into playing the instrument. These topics are very important to learn because they lay the groundwork in becoming a talented trumpet player! Your instructor will determine whether or not your child should start on a trumpet or cornet.

A cornet is easier to hold and is typically recommended for kids in 5th, 6th, and sometimes 7th grade. Before buying a trumpet/cornet please speak with us so we can make sure your child starts on the right instrument.

After learning the basics of correct hand position, buzzing on the mouthpiece, and proper breather, we move on to more advanced topics such as reading music in Treble Clef and working on how to create a nice tone through the instrument.

For more advanced students, your instructor will determine skill level based on prior knowledge & ability. From there, the instructor may recommend books for the student to work out of in lessons in addition to music assigned in band class.

Trumpet Lessons Are Recommended For:
