Voice Lessons

Have you ever realized that you are the only person who hears your voice as you hear it? You’re the only one listening from inside your head…everyone else hears your voice as your instructor hears it! As a vocalist, it’s important to find someone on the “outside” (your instructor) who you can trust to give you insight as to what the rest of the world is hearing when you sing.

The voice is one of the most difficult (and exciting!) instruments to study because it’s the only instrument that is inside your body - we can’t touch it, see it, or really interact with it in the way you can other instruments. Learning how to sing properly takes a high level of self awareness and body awareness. BUT DON’T LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU! With the help of one of our amazing instructors, you’ll be able to explore and access parts of your voice you never knew existed. While most people use their voice everyday, many are unaware of its potential.

In order to provide long term protection for students’ voices, we firmly believe in teaching students proper vocal technique. Beginner voice lessons will initially focus on the basics of posture and breathing - two things that help to build the foundation of your singing voice. At Dynamic School of Music, our instructors engage students and maintain motivation by centering lessons around the songs students are interested in. Your instructor will work with you to address any challenges that arise when singing songs of your choice as well as some song recommendations made by your instructor.

Lessons will cover topics including but not limited to: vocal range, pitch matching and accuracy, music theory, ear training, diction/articulation, Solfège, vocal agility, etc. Vocal warm-ups will also be an integral part of every lesson, no matter the level, as warming up your voice before singing is just as important as stretching before a big game!

Short term audition prep is also offered to students of all levels who are preparing for auditions and want some additional guidance and feedback regarding their audition piece(s).
